New York City drops the ball. Dahlonega drops the Gold Nugget. And Helen drops the Edelweiss, a small alpine perennial herb. All on New Year’s Eve to mark the end of one year and beginning of another.

The third annual celebration will be from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at 1074 Edelweiss Strasse, in Helen. Music, dancing, hors d’oeuvres, champagne at midnight and party favors will be available.

Tickets are $15 per person, $25 per couple, $7.50 for children ages 6-12 and free for children younger than 6.
