Student artists will have their moment in the spotlight as the 2016 White County Student Art Competition awards program and reception will convene Sunday, Feb. 21, at the Helen Arts & Heritage Center.
“We are happy to host this event each year for our students,” Helen Arts Center President Nancy Ackerman said. “Helen Rotary and HAHC are thrilled for the opportunity to invest in our aspiring young artists while growing the artistic quality of White County and Northeast Georgia. Many students began work on their pieces during the latter part of 2015, so a lot of imagination and hours have gone into preparing for this competition.”
The program is designed to recognize outstanding talent, skills and technique of each student. It offers incentive through rewards and encourages students to build on their personal artistic value as they journey into adulthood.
Members of the Helen Rotary Club will present cash awards to students placing in the top three of each category. All students will receive a certificate of participation in the 2016 competition. Sponsors Chick-fil-A and Wendy’s are providing extra incentive gifts to show their appreciation of the students’ creativity and hard work.
“It is our hope for each student to spread his or her wings and experience as much of the arts as possible, passing their love and appreciation on to future generations,” Ackerman said.
