Finding functional as well as decorative party pieces perfect for the home sometimes proves to be a difficult task. But learning to make those pieces will solve the problem.
The Pottery Studio at Helen Arts and Heritage will provide the instruction with a class, Pottery: On and Off the Wheel.
Students will learn “hand-building” techniques, pinch, coil and slab construction as well as “hand thrown” pieces on the potter’s wheel. Glazing methods and information on the firing process will be included.
Demonstrations and informative discussion will help students become familiar with tools and equipment involved in making pottery. Students will produce their own pottery pieces, functional and decorative. All pieces will be glazed and fired.
Classes are scheduled for 1-4 p.m. Nov. 6 to Dec. 11 at 25 Chattahoochee Strasse in Helen.
Hilton Hill is the instructor. The class costs $150 plus a $25 supply fee. To register, call Hilton Hill at 706-969-1177 or visit helenarts.org.
