Hear operatic tune in Athens
"The Elixir of Love" to begin this weekend

The University of Georgia Hugh Hodgson School of Music will present the opera “L’Elisir d’Amore” (“The Elixir of Love”) this weekend.

The story is about Adina, a beautiful and wealthy landowner, and, Nemorino, a young, poor peasant villager who is in love with Adina.

The performance will feature special guest conductor Maestro Imre Pallo, former principal conductor, New York City Opera at Lincoln Center and guest stage director Jennifer Bakst of the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Performances are set for 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the University of Georgia Opera Theatre at UGA Fine Arts Theatre on the corner of Lumpkin and Baldwin in Athens.
