Walking among the dead or exploring areas where ghosts may tread seems to be a popular activity during the Halloween season. And sites in White and Banks counties are taking advantage.
The historic Hardman Farm Site in Sautee Nacoochee and several stops in Homer will host ghostly events the third weekend in October.
Ghost Legends of the Valley will be from 7-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at 143 Ga. 17 in Sautee Nacoochee. At the event, guest will visit two historic landscapes and hear three stories at each site.
Co-sponsored with the Sautee Nacoochee Community Association, the event is recommended for guests 12 years old and older. Guests must be registered prior to event.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for teens and $12 for members of Friends of Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites or SNCA. A small handling fee will be added for each ticket sold.

The Historic Homer Haunted Walking Tour will be 6:30 and 7 p.m. Oct. 21-22 and Oct. 28-29. A 7:30 p.m. tour will be added if needed.
Tickets are $10 per person, $15 per couple and free for children younger than 13.
Each tour will begin and end at the Historic Courthouse & Museum at 106 Yonah-Homer Road in downtown Homer. The hourlong tour covers a walking distance of four-tenths of a mile over mostly flat terrain. All stops will be in the Homer Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
On each tour, the guide will lead guests to historic buildings and locations in downtown Homer. At each stop, the guests encounter one or more cast members who, as their historical character, speak to the guests and relate their tale. The guides also provide historical narrations as the tour progresses along the route. Tours are intended to be both educational and entertaining.
“There’s no blood-and-gore, nothing really scary,” Banks County Historical Society President and Homer Mayor Doug Cheek said in a news release. “This is a family event and something we want those attending to come away from saying something like, ‘Wow! I didn’t know that about Banks County history.’”
At the conclusion of each tour, complimentary refreshments and light snacks will be served.
