Before telephones — whether it was a landline or cellphone — citizens wanting to connect to others across the country or world used a ham radio. Now, the device is used more as a hobby. But to demonstrate its usefulness, the Lanierland Amateur Radio Club will operate the machines during an event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at J&J Foods, at 2500 Limestone Parkway.
