Hall County is issuing its first open call for artists to participate in the Hall County Government Center Public Art Program.

Hall County Administrator Randy Knighton said the county is looking for artists who are interested in displaying two-dimensional works of art for six months at the Browns Bridge Road campus.

“This facility has been a wonderful investment for the county and has provided a one-stop shop for citizens seeking county services,” Knighton said. “We look forward to expanding its capabilities by also utilizing it as a venue for public art.”

County officials have identified 25 locations on the second, third and fourth floor of the building that are conducive for public art display. The theme of the program’s first show is a play off the county’s slogan, “We have it all in Hall.”

Artists are encouraged to submit up to five art pieces that represent Hall County and its unique history, landscape, offerings and inherent features.

“We want to celebrate Hall County through art and provide local artists with yet another opportunity to have their work displayed to mass audiences,” Knighton said.  “I’d like to thank the Board of Commissioners for their support for local art and this new program.”

The deadline for submissions is July 1. Artwork is expected to be installed by mid-September and artists will be recognized with a reception prior to a Hall County Board of Commissioners voting meeting.
