Now you see it, now you don't. Don't blink or you might miss magician Joe Turner's show in Dahlonega on Oct. 28.
Turner has performed his tricks on various stages all over the country and just returned from Europe, where he brought wonder and mystery with his act.
This will be Turner's first performance at the Holly Theater, and he said he is excited to be welcomed there.
"I'm thrilled to be able to do this at the Holly. I've been there before, but never performed," Turner said.
Turner's resume is based in corporate functions; he describes himself as a professional speaker and corporate entertainer. According to his website, Turner has entertained prominent elected officials, sports figures, corporate leaders and other celebrities.
Now the entertainer will bring his magic to Dahlonega.
"It's a family-friendly show. It's not specifically designed for children, but the whole family can enjoy it," Turner said.
"It will be audience-interactive. About half the show will involve people from the crowd being part of it. It's just a fun, straightforward good time."
Friday's performance coincides with National Magic Week, when magicians throughout the country are encouraged to participate, and governors, mayors and other elected officials usually declare proclamations recognizing the celebration.
Turner said National Magic Week is all the more reason to check out the show.
"It should run about an hour and 15 minutes. I don't plan for an intermission," Turner said
"There will be one big thing at the end. Not too big, I'm not going to make the city of Dahlonega disappear or anything like that," he said with a laugh.
The performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at the Holly Theater in Dahlonega. According to the Holly, tickets are still available but are going fast. Admission is $15.
