Comedian Joe Zimmerman will perform Oct. 7 at Buford Variety Theater.

Named Charlotte's Comedian of the Year by Creative Loafing Magazine in 2006, he was nominated in 2009 by Rooftop Comedy for the Golden Shingle Award given to the most outstanding rising star in comedy.

Tat year, Punchline Magazine called Zimmerman one of the top comics to emerge from the NC Comedy Arts Festival.

Zimmerman tours with the Beards of Comedy, who recently recorded their debut CD, "Comedy for People," at the Laughing Skull Lounge.
