A evening of jazz is on tap in a free concert from 6-9 p.m. Sunday in the Shott Auditorium, Fine Arts Building, at North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega.

Curtis Jones' Band Insonnia and the Bill Fielder Jazz Septet will present a double-bill evening of "World Jazz" and "Jazz with a New Orleans Flavor."

Insonnia, with world renown violinist Martin Norgaard, performs a sound rooted in nuevo flamenco music. Led by guitarist virtuoso Curtis Jones, the group blends a contemporary sound to a traditional art form by combining Flamenco, Brazilian, Afro-Cuban and jazz to create a unique sound.

The Bill Fielder Jazz Septet will bring a flavor of New Orleans to NGSCU with an exciting selection of favorite jazz standards recalling such greats as Louis Armstrong, Chet Baker, George Gershwin, Coleman Hawkins, Jack Teagarden, Duke Ellington and others.

The group's special guests are jazz trumpeter/vocalist Joe Gransden and jazz pianist Tyrone Jackson.

Both bands, with special guests from the audience, will gather on stage for a 30-minute "jazz jam" to conclude the evening. The musicians' latest CDs will be on sale as well.
