You may not find out how much wood a woodchuck could chuck, but you will find out just about everything else there is to know about woodworking during an expo at the North Atlanta Trade Center this weekend.

The traveling Woodworking and D.I.Y Shows will set up shop from Friday through Sunday.

In addition to a variety of exhibitors like DeWalt, Mirco Fence and Prazi USA, the show will also feature daily educational seminars. Some of the topics include better furniture building, cabinet restoration and band saw use.

Andy Chidwick of Chidwick School of Fine Woodworking will teach the basics of sculptural design and Bob Settich will showcase his Woodworking in High Definition presentation.

The event will also feature ongoing demonstrations for people that are interested in learning how to turn wood.

Rob Patrick, a juried woodturner at the Sautee Nacoochee Community Association Gallery, says watching demonstrations helped him fine-tune his skills.

"If you try and do it on your own by reading books and such, that's fine," said Patrick, a White County resident.

"But if you can watch somebody do it, that's the key. That was the best learning curve for me."

Woodturning is an art form that turns blocks of wood into objects like bowls, jewelry and vases.

Woodworkers can also bring in their 7-inch to 12-inch saw blade for a free sharpening during the show. Only one blade is allowed per person. They will be sharpened on a first come, first serve basis.
