As the summer heats up, the city of Clarkesville will cool down its residents with its Downtown Splashdown.

During its regular Friday Night Live event, city organizers are inviting the community to cool off for free from 6-8 p.m. June 17 at multiple stations on the gazebo lawn. Stations include the fire hydrant sprinkler, the Roarin’ Rainforest waterslide or the bouncing Wet House.

If getting doused with water is not your cup of tea, then sit back and listen to WCHM 96.7 FM, which will host a live remote complete with fun music and games.

After young and old residents are finished splashing around or during the live entertainment, they may feast on hot dogs and snow cones supplied by the Clarkesville Fire Department. Other concessions will be available for a price. Some eateries on the square will offer specials at their establishments.

In addition to the water fun, a Classic Cruise-In will take place in the lower lot of the old courthouse. Classic car enthusiasts are invited to bring their automobiles and motorcycles for display. All makes and models encouraged.

No fee is required to enter, but registration begins at 5 p.m. Final judging will take place at 8 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for Best in Show and People’s Choice.
