The fourth annual Happy Heart Car Show and festival returns to Gainesville Aug. 27.
The Northeast Georgia Diagnostic Clinic will play host to the festivities off Jesse Jewel Parkway. Proceeds go to the American Heart Association said Shannon Furnas, patient account handler and Heart Walk co-captain.
The highlight will be the car show. Furnas said the clinic hopes to see 100 cars on display.
In addition, the event will feature live music by local gospel group Regeneration. Gainesville natives Chris Robertson and Larry Scroggs will play their country-rock rhythms.
Arts and crafts will be on display, as well as raffles, auctions, face painting and balloon artists.
"If you've never experienced a car show, then you should come. It's just one of those everyone should experience," Furnas said. "It's good, clean family fun for everyone."
New to the festival this year will be the presence of a Life South team who will be holding a blood drive at the event.
Furnas talked about the clinic's hope to see a large turnout.
"We're hoping to get 100 cars signed up. Weather could be a factor, but we're hoping it'll be a cool, clear day for the show."
"We find it gets harder every year, and we're hoping for a good turnout this year. "
Furnas said the festival raised more than $3,000 last year. She hopes to raise $5,000 this time.
The car show and festivities are free to spectators. Cars can be registered for the show for $15 through Friday and $25 on Saturday.
The Northeast Georgia Diagnostic Clinic parking lot will be the event site, and is located at 1240 Jesse Jewel Parkway, Suite 500 in Gainesville.
