The Buford Corn Maze is set to begin its 2014 season Saturday, Aug. 30, on the 5-acre site on Friendship Road in Buford.
The maze, which attracts thousands of visitors each year, will be open through Nov. 16, with activities on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through September. In October, the maze will expand its hours to Mondays and Wednesdays.
“We are starting our sixth season and have really enjoyed providing fun, family-friendly entertainment,” said Rodney Miller, founder of the Buford Corn Maze in 2009. “Most families spend a half day with us each visit, exploring all the activities we have to offer.”
In addition to the maze, visitors may travel on Atlanta’s longest hayride. The mile-long trail winds around the maze and through the forested area on the property.
Activities for the younger visitor include a corn box play area, face painting, pony rides, a bounce house and farm animals. A new playground for children also is available.
As the fall season arrives in September and lasts to November, the Buford Corn Maze’s Haunted Forest comes to life for Halloween.
Live music can be heard on some Fridays and Saturdays. Plus, visitors have a chance to sing on Fridays with karaoke.
Times vary throughout the season. From Aug. 30 to Sept. 14, the maze is open 6-10 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 10 p.m. Sundays. In October, hours expand to 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to midnight Fridays.
The Haunted Forest opens Friday, Sept. 19, and runs from 6 p.m. to midnight Fridays, 10 a.m. to midnight Saturdays and noon to 10 p.m. Sundays.
Tickets are $14 for the maze, with a reduced rate of $10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in October. The Haunted Forest costs $14, and a combo ticket for the maze and the Haunted Forest is $22. The group rate is $12 per person with a minimum of 20 people.
