The Brenau University Department of Dance will present its spring dance concert, “Headlines,” Thursday, April 12 through Saturday, April 14.

Performances will be held nightly at 7:30 p.m. at the John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts, in Hosch Theatre, located on Brenau University’s Gainesville campus.

The concert will showcase eight fresh-off-the-press works by seven choreographers. The pieces range in type from modern dance to contemporary ballet. Guest choreographers include Gladys Bailin-Stern, Cynthia Perry and Lonnie Davis.

Bailin-Stern’s piece, “Newspapers,” was originally created in the 1970s. It uses actual newspapers as props, courtesy of The Times.

Brenau dance faculty members, Vincas Greene, Jolie Long, and Nikki Bybee make their noteworthy imprints with new and recycled works.

Annette Barcelona, a dance education major will present her senior thesis choreography. Her contemporary ballet heralds the consequences of those who are tempted to indulge in the seven deadly sins.

The performers include dancers from Brenau University’s dance department, the Gainesville Ballet Company and guest artists from the Atlanta area.

Tickets will be available at the door: $6 general, $4 children, seniors, students. Admission is free for Brenau students, faculty and staff with ID. There also will be special pricing for Brenau alumni.
