The first in a series of monthly talks titled “Sense and Sustainability” is scheduled for 5-6 p.m. Oct. 23 at Brenau University in the SUB (second floor of the Tea Room).

Local experts, Brenau faculty and selected students will present a different topic each month. The sessions are free and open to the public.

The opening talk will touch on past environmental disasters such as Chernobyl and Love Canal. It will be presented by Dr. Rudi Kiefer, a professor of science and director of sustainability at Brenau and author of the “Earth Sense” column that appears in The Times and each Sunday. A question-and-answer session will follow.
