Third annual Gainesville Gran Prix

Bicyclists will whiz across Hall County roads this weekend during the third annual Gainesville Gran Prix.

The USA Cycling-sanctioned Omnium Cycling Race will kick off with Wahoo Fitness Kickr races and street sprints Friday night at Wrenched Bicycles off Bradford Street in downtown Gainesville. The timed trial and circuit race will follow on Saturday at Concord Baptist Church, 640 Main St., in Clermont. And the event will end with the road-race course in downtown Clermont.

Saturday’s events will begin with the timed trial at 8 a.m. and the circuit rage at 11:30 a.m. For the non-bicyclist, a 5K4God intermission charity race will be at 10:30 a.m. along with a fun run. Children may also participate in the free bike race on a short course in Clermont.

The road race on Sunday will begin at 8:45 a.m. on Dean Street in Clermont.

More than $6,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded. Proceeds will benefit the Concord Baptist Church, Mexico Family Mission.
