As a part of the Gaither Homecoming Tour and Video Series, The Nelons continue to cross generational gaps with their vocal harmonies. And the singers will bring those sounds to Gainesville.

The multi-Dove award-winning and Grammy-nominated recording group will perform a at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church, at 1210 W. Ridge Road, in Gainesville.

The musical ministry of The Nelons was formed after family patriarch Rex Nelon had experienced a spectacular 20-year career as a member of the legendary LeFevres. The family tradition has continued with Nelon’s daughter, Kelly Nelon Clark and her family. She sings alongside her husband, Jason, and her daughters, Amber and Autumn.

Amber Nelon Thompson has established a solo career with multiple releases but travels full-time with her family. She was named as the youngest Dove Award nominee in history by the Gospel Music Association.

“I can remember people saying, ‘I wish you could see your father when you sing,’” Kelly Clark said. “I didn’t understand it then. But now as I watch my girls sing, I glow with pride and totally understand it.”

The Nelons, who were recently inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, have been singing hit songs and bridging the traditional sounds of Gospel music with contemporary influences. The group has recorded more than 35 albums with chart-topping Southern Gospel classics such as “We Shall Wear a Robe and Crown,” “Come Morning,” and “O For a Thousand Tongues.”
