Artists have been invited to submit examples of their work for judging and display at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia, which will have its first art show and exhibit Sept. 16 to Oct. 16.
The exhibit is open to original two-dimensional paintings, but each artwork must be clearly related to aviation in World War I, World War II or nonmilitary aviation from the first half of the 20th century
Entries must be received by 5 p.m. Aug. 15. Each entry must include a $20 fee.
Artists older than age 18 at the time of the show's opening are invited to submit up to three entries in one of four categories. Only the artist may submit artwork. Each entry will be judged by an independent jury of art professionals.
The focus of the Military Aviation Museum is winged military aircraft from the earliest days of aviation through 1945. Artworks depicting events during that time period will be considered in four categories.
Cash awards will to first and second place, ribbons for first through fourth in each category. A Best in Show award will bring $1,000 and be considered for purchase by the museum to be added to its collection.
