Denise Weimer, author of the popular Georgia Gold Series linking the state’s coast and mountains in the mid-1800s, will sign copies of all four historical fiction novels from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 11 during the Mule Camp Market Festival.
“Bright as Gold,” the latest and final installment just released this September, brings the reader up to the Reconstruction period. During the festival, Weimer’s table will be in front of Frames You-Nique, which carries the series on a regular basis.
Weimer, a resident of Watkinsville, resided 10 years in Habersham County. During that time, well-known regional historian and artist John Kollock offered his family letters and diaries to aid her research as she crafted a story spanning from the Georgia Gold Rush to Reconstruction. Weimer wanted to show how the lives of the summer people, like Kollock’s ancestors, coastal tycoons who built fanciful mountain retreats near Clarkesville, mingled with those of the hardy pioneers and Cherokee Indians.
