Atlantic Crossing to play at SNCA's Contra Dance

Atlantic Crossing will perform Saturday for the montly Contra Dance at the Sautee-Nacoochee Community Association historic gym in Sautee.

The evening will begin at 6:30 with a potluck supper; bring a dish to share.

Lessons for newcomers begin at 7:30, with the main dance from 8-11 p.m.

The caller for the evening will be Jennie Wakefield.

Atlantic Crossing includes Rick Klein, Peter Macfarlane, Brian Perkins and Viveka Fox who have been thrilling concert audiences and contra-dancers with traditional music from New England for 15 years. Their songs have deep Celtic roots in the British Isles and in French & Maritime Canada.

The group offers "... a refreshing and unique take on traditional dance and vocal music ... always driving, enthusiastic and expertly played," said Mark Sustic, founder of the Champlain Folk Festival."Just try to listen without moving something. I can't do it!"

Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for SNCA members, $4 for students. Children 7 and younger are free with an adult.

The SNCA gym is locaed at 283 Ga. 255 North, Sautee, just a quarter mile off Ga. 17 near Helen.
