The Habersham Central High School Performing Arts Theater will be filled with a joyful noise this weekend.

The Alliance for African American Music in Northeast Georgia will hold its 21st annual Celebration of Music at 3 p.m. Feb. 12 at the school on Ga. 197 S. in Mount Airy.

The concert's theme is "Making Melody in Our Hearts" and will feature the Reinhardt University Concert Choir, under the leadership of Dennis K. McIntire.

The choral celebration will also include performances by a mass community choir.

Admission is free, but a love offering will be collected. A portion of the offering will benefit the alliance's Lachicotte-Strickland Memorial Scholarship, which the group awards to a "qualified minority student majoring in music."

Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a CD with selections from previous musical celebrations. The CD's will cost $5 and a portion of the sales will also benefit the group's scholarship fund.
