Wood aces No. 8 hole at Royal Lakes

Local golfer Ed Wood shot a hole-in-one Tuesday on hole No. 8 at Royal Lakes Golf Course.
Wood earned the shot from 150 yards using a No. 4 hybrid club.

Malcom Colbert, Kim Gabrels and Neil Canfield witnessed the shot.

In other local golf action, the Wednesday Dogfight group played Tuesday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

The team of Jerry Horton, Don Gardner, Ron Bowyer and Gayle Gibson finished first with plus-22. Second place went to the team of Mark Black, Steve Ballard, Neil Tolbert and Ron Melin with plus-17.

Wayne Strickland finished first individually with a plus-14. Bowyer placed second with a plus-11. Tommy Calhoun and Horton tied for third with plus-8. Neil Tolbert and Dan Arthurs tied for fifth with plus-6. Steve Ballard, Tom Bolton, Mark Black and Shannon Kent tied for seventh with plus-5.

The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played an individual low gross, low net game Tuesday April 29.

In the first flight, Mona White finished first place in the low gross with Anna White finishing second. Dorrie Payne finished first in the low net with Ethel Smith finishing second.

In the second flight, Carolyn Palmer finished first with gross with Betty Norton finishing second. Nora Gleason finished first in the low net with Paula Pilgrim finishing second.

Closest to the pin winners were Sue Cronmiller (No. 3) and Smith (No. 12).

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a three best ball, net strokes game Wednesday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

The team of Eddie Johnson, Joe Kolesar, Dave Gleason and Harry Barnett placed first with a score of minus-45. The team of Leroy Harper, Jerry Ermlich, Jack Costello and Dwight Olson finished second with minus-40. Third place went to the team of Ben Brooks, Claude Schneider, Jim Hesser and Don Graff with a minus-36. The team of John Williams, Milton Martin, Greg Taira and Walt Schneider finished fourth with a minus-33.

Closest to the pin winners were Harper (No. 3), Dennis Momper (No. 5), Dave Long (No. 12) and Joe Kolesar (No. 17).
