High school cross country: Pair of Lakeview Academy runners claim region titles

Lakeview Academy runners won region championships at the GIAA 4-3A cross country meet Thursday in Loganville. 

For the Lions boys, Henry Stewart took first overall with a time of 18 minutes, 10.77 seconds, while Liv Lekas won the girls race (21:29) at Loganville Christian.

Also qualifying for state for the Lakeview Academy girls were eighth-grader Jalyn Purdy, who took sixth place, and senior Catherine Chandler, who was seventh overall.

Up next, Lakeview Academy’s qualifiers will run at the state championship meet Oct. 28 in Macon.
