Teheran sharp in 8 innings as G-Braves extend streak

Julio Teheran, the Braves top organizational prospect earned his second Triple-A win Monday night in Fort Mill, S.C., guiding Gwinnett to a 4-3 win over the Charlotte Knights.

Teheran worked eight innings, striking out seven while allowing three runs on six hits as the G-Braves won their seventh straight game. Coupled with a Durham loss, Gwinnett now holds a 2.5-game lead in the International League South.

First baseman Mauro Gomez led the G-Braves’ offense with a three-run home run in the top of the third inning. Outfielder Wilkin Ramirez chipped in with a 2-for-4 effort including a solo home run.

Scott Proctor earned the saved, working a perfect ninth inning and striking out one.

The G-Braves return home tonight to take on the Columbus Clippers in the first of a four-game set. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

Todd Redmond (0-2, 1.93) is set to take the hill for Gwinnett.
