The Gwinnett Braves hit four home runs and defeated the Charlotte Knights 10-8 in 10 innings on Sunday in Fort Mill, S.C. After starting an inning-ending double play in the eighth inning with the bases loaded, third baseman Clint Sammons hit a home run in the 10th inning for the winning runs.
Brent Clevlen led Triple-A Gwinnett at the plate with four hits, a home run and four RBIs. Left fielder Wilkin Ramirez added a solo home run for the G-Braves. Joe Thurston was 2-for-6 with a home run for Gwinnett, and designated hitter Barbaro Canizares added three hits and raised his International League-leading batting average to .332.
Kenshin Kawakami threw 5 2/3 innings for Gwinnett and allowed four runs and five hits.
Gwinnett plays host to Charlotte at 7 p.m. tonight at Coolray Field.
