Sammons homers for G-Braves in loss to Tides

Matt Young had three hits for the Gwinnett Braves in a 5-4 loss to the Norfolk Tides on Saturday at Coolray Field.

Gwinnett catcher Clint Sammons added a two-run home run in the fourth inning.

He also drove in a run in the third inning when he reached base on an error. Freddie Freeman and Joe Thurston each added a hit for the Triple-A G-Braves, extending their hitting streaks to 10 games.

Gwinnett’s Todd Redmond pitched six innings and didn’t allow any runs.  The G-Braves play host to Norfolk at 2 p.m. today at Coolray Field.
