ATLANTA — A player for the Gwinnett Braves has been accused of raping a woman while on a trip to Columbus, Ohio.

WGCL-TV (http://bit.ly/1KpmXCh) reports Elmer Reyes has been charged with kidnapping and rape in connection with the weekend incident at a Columbus hotel.

Reyes is an infielder for the Braves.

The victim told police that she and her friend met Reyes after a baseball game Friday and went to a bar. The victim told investigators that Reyes raped her in a hotel room. A phone number for Reyes could not be located. It was not clear whether he had an attorney.

Team representatives did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

Reyes is free on bond. He is next scheduled to appear in court on June 2.
