Pawtucket rolls past G-Braves 9-2

The Gwinnett Braves were defeated by the Pawtucket Red Sox 9-2 on Monday in the series opener at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, R.I.

G-Braves starting pitcher Jacob Thompson took the loss, lasting just 1/3 innings and giving up five earned runs. Muaro Gomez led Gwinnett, going 3-for-4 and Wilkin Ramirez hit his fifth home run of the season.

Gwinnett fell to 16-14 on the year and remains in second place in the International League South division. The G-Braves play Pawtuckett again tonight, with the G-Braves sending out Mike Minor (1-1, 1.93) to face Mat Fox (3-2, 3.62).

ATLANTA — A player for the Gwinnett Braves has been accused of raping a woman while on a trip to Columbus, Ohio. WGCL-TV (http://bit.ly/1KpmXCh) reports Elmer Reyes has been charged with kidnapping and rape in connection with the weekend incident at a Columbus hotel. Reyes is an infielder for the Braves.
