G-Braves win 6th straight

The Gwinnett Braves won their sixth consecutive game Sunday as they beat Charlotte 12-1 in Fort Mill, S.C.

The G-Braves (12-5) now hold a half game lead over Durham in the Internatinal League South division.

Catcher Wilkin Castillo led Gwinnett at the plate, going 4 for 5 with six RBIs and a three-run home run.

Shane Bowman added to the output with a 3-for-4 effort and three runs scored, while Matt Young went 2 for 4 with a double in his second game with the G-Braves this season. Rodrigo Lopez (4-0) picked up the win, yielding one run and five hits while striking out five in six innings.

Charlotte hosts Gwinnett in the series finale at 7:15 p.m. Monday.

Julio Teheran, the Braves’ top organizational prospect, will start on the mound.
