The Gwinnett Braves couldn’t follow last night’s big win with another, dropping an 8-0 contest to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Wednesday at Coolray Field. While Gwinnett’s offense sputtered, Lehigh’s jumped to an early lead to secure the win.
The G-Braves (26-26) remain in second place in the International League South divison, droping 3 1/2 games bheind Durham.
Yohan Flande took the loss for Gwinnett, going four innings and yielding three runs on six hits with a pair of walks and five strikeouts. Jeff Fiorentino’s double to lead off the game was the highlight for the G-Braves, who struck out a season-high 14 times.
The G-Braves close out their eight-game homestand tonight against Lehigh, with the first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
