Daniel Nelson's second homer in four games, a three-run home run in the fourth inning, led the Gwinnett Braves to an 8-3 win against Norfolk on Wednesday at Coolray Field.
Rodrigo Lopez (2-0) went 7 2/3 innings to earn the win for the G-Braves (4-3). Lopez, who pitched the longest outing of a G-Braves starter this season, allowed five hits, one earned run and one walk, while striking out five.
Nelson finished 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs, while Diory Hernandez went 3-for-4 for the G-Braves, who begin a two game set against the Charlotte Knights at 7:05 p.m Thursday at Coolray Field. Gwinnett sends out top Braves prospect RHP Julio Teheran (0-0, 1.59 ERA) to face off against RHP Jeff Marquez (1-0, 0.00 ERA).
