G-Braves clip Red Wings

Scott Diamond pitched six innings and allowed only one earned run for the Gwinnett Braves in a 3-1 victory against the Rochester Red Wings on Wednesday at Coolray Field.

In his first start at home for Triple-A Gwinnett, he allowed only four hits and recorded four strike outs for the G-Braves.

Craig Kimbrel entered the game in the ninth to record his 13th save this season for Gwinnett.

Gwinnett first baseman Barbaro Canizares had two hits and two runs batted in, and Freddie Freeman had an RBI in his third consecutive game.

With runners at second and third in the sixth inning, Canizares singled in Wes Timmons and Freeman to score.

Gwinnett faces Rochester in Game 3 of the four-game series at 7 p.m. tonight at Coolray Field.
