The Gwinnett Braves washed away the Norfolk Tides 4-1 on Thursday night at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA.

The home team’s performance was highlighted by pitching, fueled by Yohan Flande and another solid rehab outing for Atlanta’s Peter Moylan.

Flande (8-8) went six innings, allowing just one hit, one earned run with four walks and five strikeouts.

Peter Moylan had his second scoreless one-inning outing on his rehab game with Gwinnett, with a walk and strikeout.

Jairo Asencio pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his 22nd save of the year.

Newest Braves signing Wes Helms, who was originally drafted by Atlanta 12 seasons ago, continued his Braves resurgence playing third base and going 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

The G-Braves (72-60) remain in second place in the International League South, pulling within three games of Durham.

Gwinnett is also second in the Wild Card race by a two game margin behind both Pawtucket and Lehigh Valley.

The G-Braves host the Norfolk Tides at 7:05 p.m. on Friday.
