G-Braves blast Bulls, take sole possession of 1st

Led by a combined seven RBIs from Chris Carter and Brandon Hicks, the Gwinnett Braves blasted Durham Bulls 11-3 on Monday in Lawrenceville and moved back into the sole possession of first place in the International League South.

Carter finished 4 for 5 with a solo homer and three RBIs, while Hicks extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a 3-for-5 night that included a grand slam. Cristhian Martinez (five innings, three hits, one run) took the win.

Gwinnett and Durham wrap up their four-game series tonight. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. Todd Redmond (5-7, 3.07) will start for the G-Braves.

ATLANTA — A player for the Gwinnett Braves has been accused of raping a woman while on a trip to Columbus, Ohio. WGCL-TV (http://bit.ly/1KpmXCh) reports Elmer Reyes has been charged with kidnapping and rape in connection with the weekend incident at a Columbus hotel. Reyes is an infielder for the Braves.
