Gainesville High graduate Micah Owings signed a minor league contract Monday with the Seattle Mariners organization, as first reported by cbssports.com. Owings, 34, who guided the Red Elephants to baseball state championships in 2001 and 2002, spent 2016 playing for the York Revolution, an Independent League club. Previously in the big leagues, Owings played for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cincinnati Reds and San Diego Padres.
