Trailing after the first two rounds, Cheyenne Woods and Michelle Shin of Wake Forest carded a 139 on Thursday to win the Hooters Women’s Collegiate Team Championship at Achasta Golf Course in Dahlonega.
The duo combined for seven birdies and an eagle during Day 3’s aggregate-score format to finish the tournament at 15-under-par and surge past Brooke Pancake and Jennifer Kirby of the University of Alabama to take home the win.
Pancake and Kirby led the first two days of competition, but carded a 142 on Thursday to leave them at 13-under and in second place.
The University of Georgia duo of Emilie Burger and Milena Savich fired a 146 in round three to climb into a tie for 10th after being out of the top 10 after the first two days of competition.
Georgia’s other team, Tess Fordham and Abby Johnson, shot a 153 on day 3 and dropped to 18th place after finding themselves in 13th after day 2.
Annie Miles and Erin Misheff of Ashland University were the highest finishers from a Division-II school, ending the final day in a tie for 16th and 4-over-par for the tournament.
