Rob Wooten, Matt Marksberry and Jose Ramirez combined to pitch a no-hitter, leading the Gwinnett Braves to a 3-0 victory over the Louisville Bats on Thursday.
Wooten (1-1) picked up the win after he struck out eight over six scoreless innings.
In the top of the second, Gwinnett took the lead on a single by Blake Lalli that scored Rio Ruiz. The Braves then added single runs in the third and fifth innings. In the third, Ruiz hit an RBI double, while Matt Tuiasosopo hit a solo home run in the fifth.
Jon Moscot (4-4) went six innings, allowing three runs and seven hits in the International League game. He also struck out five and walked two. Ramirez retired the side in order for his fourth save of the season.
Tuiasosopo homered and singled in the win. Sean Kazmar had three hits.
The Bats were held scoreless for the 10th time this season, while the Braves’ staff recorded their sixth shutout of the year.
