The high school football season begins Friday for the majority of the state’s football teams and nearly all of the area teams. One exception is Gainesville, which will host West Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at City Park Stadium in Gainesville. Also, Riverside Military will not play its first regular season game until Sept. 7, when the Eagles host Whitefield Academy at Maginnis Field.
