The Truett-McConnell College baseball team won the opening game of their three-game series Friday night at Clearwater Christian College by a final score of 6-4.
Bears senior Kyle York threw seven solid innings and allowed only one earned run. Freshman Weston Tate and sophomore Kirby Alls provided solid relief before turning it over to North Hall High graduate Jacob Brewster who earned his second save of the year.
On Saturday, Despite a less than favorable forecast on Saturday the TMC Bears took to the field in game three of their season opening series against visiting Montreat College and a 4-2 win.
The game remained scoreless into the fourth inning when the visiting Cavs jumped on top 1-0 thanks to an unearned run. Montreat would take a 2-1 advantage in the seventh on another unearned run off Truett-McConnell reliever Chris Stevens, also a North Hall graduate, making his college debut.
The Cavilers would hold the advantage until the eighth when the opportunistic Bears offense finally took advantage.
Brewster earned the save and preserved the first college win for former high school teammate Stevens.
