Local golf: Foursome earns best ball win at Chattahoochee

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a two best ball tournament this week.

The team of Tommy Lowery, Grady Parish, Jim Van Dyke and Doug Hutson came in first place, and the team of Gene Weschler, Ed Pledger, Marty Anderson and Bruce Doll came in second place.

In third place was Tom Sexton, Larry Cohan, Gary Moses and Ben Brooks. Fourth went to Joe Roberts, Don Sorrell, Karl Goellner and Don Gage.

During the tournament, Charlie Chamberlin, Dave Gleason, Doll and Jim Carroll were all closest to pin winners.

LUNA’S PLAY CHIMNEY OAKS: The Tuesday Golf Group played Chimney Oaks in Homer this week with the team of Gene Weschler, Ace Jordan, Richard Strickland and Doug Van coming in first place.

The team of Donny Smith, Tom Sexton, Randy Gordy and Jim Cornett took second place ahead of the team of Tommy Lowery, Daryl Dunckel, Bud Black and Royce Deaton.

Joe Roberts won a pair of closest to pins, while Jordan and Ken Chahoy also won a closest to the pin on the day.

WEDNESDAY DOGFIGHT GROUP: The Wednesday Dogfights played stableford scoring flights at Chicopee Woods Golf Course. First place in the ‘A’ flight went to Henry Komoto with +7 points. Second place went to Gayle Gipson (+3) ahead of Andy Brightbill (+2).

Rodney Casey (0) and Phil Rothermel (0) tied for fourth.

In flight ‘B,’ Dave Jetter (+5) took the top spot.

Second place went to Steve Noah (+4) with Bob Rinfret (+3) taking third. Kieth Fitzgerald (+2) and Steve Stock (+2) tied for fourth.
