Gainesville High senior Ryan Hogan pieced together four consecutive birdies over his final nine holes to claim victory in the Junior Grand Championship on Wednesday at the Woodmont Golf & Country Club in Canton.
Hogan had five birdies over the back nine and carded a final-round 74 and three-day total of 1-under par (215). During his final round, Hogan carded a 43 on the first nine holes.
Hogan set up his victory with a first-round, 4-under-par 68. On Day 2, he finished with a 73.
The Red Elephants’ senior won by three shots over Dalton’s Matthew Cleary (73-72-73).
In the 13-14 age group, Gainesville’s Sam Patterson finished fourth with a three-day total of 238. Gainesville junior Morgan Nichol took ninth in the girls’ competition.
Flowery Branch’s Connor Gillespie closed with back-to-back rounds of 75 to finish tied for 16th in the 15-18 division.
