With just eight teams reaming in the Class AA state softball playoffs, Buford High School will look to move toward its fifth consecutive state title this week.

The Lady Wolves will face Southeast Bulloch on Thursday at Noon at the Columbus Softball Complex in Columbus. Buford is the only area team still alive in the state playoffs.

Buford defeated North Murray in two games in the previous rounds, winning both games 8-2. It had a slow start to the season, losing six of its first 11. Since that point, however, the Lady Wolves are 24-4.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: After losing 54-37 to Franklin County and falling to third in the Region 8-AAA North subregion on Friday, North Hall will look to rebound on Friday when they host subregion leader Stephens County on Friday at the Brickyard.

With a win, the Trojans will pass Stephens County in the subregion. If both North Hall and Franklin County win, it will create a three-way tie.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: After a week off, the Georgia Bulldogs will travel to Jacksonville, Fla., to take on the Florida Gators at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Georgia (5-2, 4-1 SEC) will try to keep pace with SEC East division-leader South Carolina.

Georgia Tech (6-2, 3-2 ACC), after starting out 6-0, has lost its last two at Virginia and at Miami. It has another tough opponent on Saturday, hosting No. 7 Clemson at Bobby Dodd Stadium at 8 p.m. on ABC.
