OXFORD, Miss. — Mississippi coach Houston Nutt says receiver Melvin Harris has been dismissed from the football team.

The 6-foot-6, 210-pound junior from Buford didn't see much playing time this season with two catches for 21 yards and a touchdown. As a sophomore, he was second on the team with 30 catches for 408 yards and three touchdowns.

Nutt didn't give a specific reason for Harris' dismissal during Monday's weekly press conference, only saying that the coaching staff "has really tried to help him for three years." Nutt indicated Harris will likely transfer to a Football Championship Subdivision program to play next season.

Ole Miss hosts No. 10 Arkansas on Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The Rebels have lost 11 of their past 12 Southeastern Conference games.
