Starter Mike Minor continued his solid work on the mound, leading the Gwinnett Braves to a 6-2 win over the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees on Monday night.
The win was Minor’s third in as many appearances since being promoted to Triple-A and halted a three-game losing streak for Gwinnett. The Braves’ first-round draft pick in 2009 struck out five and allowed two runs on five hits in six innings of work.
Steven Marek and Craig Kimbrell combined to strike out six in three innings of relief.
Freddy Freeman led the G-Braves (44-52) at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Wes Timmons went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs scored.
Gwinnett returns to action against Scranton-Wilkes Barre at 7 tonight in the second of a four-game series. Todd Redmond (8-8, 4.15) is scheduled to get the start for the G-Braves, while Ivan Nova (7-2, 3.21) will start for the Yankees.
