Local golf: Pledger, Long, Van and Johnston win CMA event

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a three best ball, net strokes game Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course in Gainesville.

First place went to the team of Ed Pledger, Guy Long, Doug Van and J.B. Johnston.

The team of Bill Falls, Jere Cochran and Fred Reed won second place.

Closest to the pin winners were Momper (No. 3), Falls (No. 5 and No. 12) Carlyle Cox (No. 17).

LUNA’S TUESDAY GOLF GROUP: The Luna’s Tuesday Golf Group played this week at the Chattahoochee Golf Course in Gainesville.

First place went to the team of Stan Davidson Jr., Cleve Brown, Juan Luna, and Grady Smith.

Tied for second place were the teams of Michael Gordy, Larry Miller, Steve Gailey, and Jim Cornett; and Jeff Sanford, Steve Hill, Frank House, and Johnny Crumley.

Closest to the pin winners were Gordy (No. 3), Richard Strickland (No. 5), House (No. 12), and Ronnie Ledford (No. 17).

WEDNESDAY DOGFIGHT: A Wednesday Dogfight individual and team competition was held Wednesday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course in Gainesville.

Jerry Horton won first place in individual play.

In the team competition, the team of Greg Lee, Bob Arendt, Bill Jorgenson and Sykes took top honors.

DPG GOLF GROUP: The DPG golf group played matches Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course in Gainesville.

Terrence Dale won first place Monday.

On Wednesday, Dwight Miller took first place in individual play, and Norm Phillips and Horace Smallwood won first place honors in the team competition.

The Friday match was won by James Roberts.
