Local Golf: Lightfoot claims win

The Dedicated Players Group played matches Monday, Wednesday and Friday this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Monday, Ken Lightfoot took first place with a +5 score while Dwight Miller took second with a +4. Bob Kidd finished in third with an even score. Terrence Dale and Jerry Shell tired for fourth, both carding a -1.

Lightfoot and Jerry Shell won Wednesday’s team match with a +7 score with Lightfoot also taking individual honors with a +5.

Friday’s match was won by Bob Kidd with a +5 with Shell carding a +3 for second.

LUNA’S: The Luna’s Tuesday golf group played at Orchard Golf Course in Clarksville this week.

First place went to the team of Tommy Lowery, Stan Davidson Jr., Joe Campbell and Doug Van. The team of Donnie Smith, Randy Gordy, Cleve Brown and Doug McMahan placed second, while Sam McGee, Chad Pierce, Jimmy Harritos and Anthony Barrett teamed up for third.

Closest to the pin winners were Tom Sexton (No. 2), Van (No. 7), Smith (No. 11), and Lowery (No. 13).

CMGA: The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a three best-ball, aggregated net-points game Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Club.

First place went to the team of Nick Grillo, Don Wells, Ed Pledger and Rick Reed.

The team of Bud Clegg, Don Gage, Joe Kolesar and J.B. Johnston finished in second while Bill Sutton, Wayne Nelson, Eddie Johnson and Jim Hollobaugh teamed up for third.

The team of Denny Momper, Bill Kopecky, Jim Carroll and Gary Palmer tied with the team of Leroy Harper, Paul Payne, Gene Weschler and Guy Long for fourth place.

Closest to the pin winners were Clary Bartlett on No. 3, Bob Layne on No. 5, Long on No. 12 and Dave Gleason on No. 17.

CLGA: The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a low-gross, low-net event Tuesday at Chattahoochee Golf Club.

The low-gross winner of flight one was Ann Hollobaugh with Peggy Hall placing second. The low-net winner was Violet Reynolds while Beulah Land finished in second.

In the second flight, Sue Cronmiller was the low-gross winner with Ricki Von Strong finishing second.

The low-net winner was Nora Gleason while second place went to Jewell Floyd.

Closest to the pin winners were Nancy Negley on hole No. 3 and Land on hole No. 17.
