The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played host to a Chix with Stix tournament at the Chattahoochee Golf Course on Tuesday in a two-person, best-ball team format.
First place went to the team of Nadine Brown, Shellie Pierce, Paula Pilgrim and Flo Kamradt. Bette Holland, Ann White, Joann Goodrow and Jackie Somerville teamed up for second place. Third place was taken by the three-person team of Lisa Studebaker, Nancy Norris and Peggy Krautter.
Poue Lee won both the long-drive challenge and the closest to the pin award on No. 3. Other closest to the pin winners were Carolyn Palmer (No. 5), Cindy Cotrell (No. 12) and Faye Cole (No. 17).
DOGFIGHT: The Wednesday Dogfight was held this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course. First place in the team event went to Tommy Calhoun, Larry Miller and Bill Jorgensen with a score of 15-under par.
Yoko Komoto, Lou Vega and Roger Stapp each carded a 69, leaving them tied atop the leader board in the individual event. Tommy Calhoun’s 71 was good enough for fourth place while Jameson Foote’s 72 earned fifth place honors.
CMGA: The Chattahoochee Mens Golf Association celebrated the Independence Day holiday with its annual Red, White and Blue Scramble on Wednesday, playing alternately for the red, white and blue tees at Chattahoochee Golf Course.
The team of Doug Van, Carlyle Cox, Nick Grillo and John Beem placed first with a net score of 55.1. Second place went to the team of Buzz Hansen, Roy Lyle and Johnny Little with a 56.7. Paul Payne, Jim Hollobaugh, Bud Clegg and Mike Humin teamed up for third place with a score of 56.9. The team of John Gibbs, Gary Palmer and Bill Kinser finished in fourth with a 57.1.
Closest to the pin winners were: J.B. Johnston (No. 3), Hansen (No. 5), Kinser (No. 12) and Glynn Rogers (No. 17).
LUNA: The Luna’s Tuesday Golf Group played this week at the Chestatee Golf Club.
First place went to the team of Steve Hill, Sam McGee, Jerry Johns and Chad Pierce. Gene Weschler, Joe Campbell, Johnny Nix and Ken Chahoy teamed up for second placed, while third place went to the team of Bud Black, Richard Strickland, Doug Van and Doug McMahan.
Closest to the pin winners were Van on No. 3, Hill on No. 7, Tommy Lowery on No. 11, McGee on No. 15 and Pierce on No. 17.
DPG: The DPG played matches Monday and Wednesday of this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course. James Roberts took first place Monday with a score of +5 while Dave Jetter’s +4 was good enough for second place.
Wednesday’s team competition was won by Bob Kidd and Martha Shell with a score of +6. The team of Billy Corbin and Charley Kilby tied at +3 with the team of Norm Phillips and Horace Smallwood for second place. Phillips also took first place in the individual match with a score of +5.
