SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame freshman wide receiver Tai-ler Jones, a Gainesville High graduate, was one of 11 student-athletes arrested for misdemeanor charges of underage drinking at a party Friday night.

Nate Montana, son of former Irish and NFL standout Joe Montana, was one of eight football players arrested, a St. Joseph County sheriff's spokesman said Saturday. Also arrested was Tim Abromaitis, the basketball team's second-leading scorer.

A total of 42 arrests were made at the party.

The others athletes involved were wide receivers Robby Toma, linebacker Steve Filer, kicker Nick Tausch, cornerback Lo Wood, and offensive linemen Chris Watt and Tate Nichols; incoming freshman point guard Eric Atkins; and incoming hockey goalie Steven Summerhays.

Two other non-athletes face a misdemeanor charge of providing alcohol to minors. The sheriff's spokesman said most had been released on $150 bond.

Notre Dame officials said coaches were aware of the arrests and any possible discipline would be handled internally.
