Jefferson wins district tourney

The Jefferson 13-year old All-Stars defeated the Jefferson 14 year-olds 4-3 to win the Dizzy Dean District 6 Tournament on Monday in Jefferson.

Kody McDonald hit a walk-off RBI single in the seventh inning to score Keenan Lord and secure the championship win for the All-Stars.

Jace McColskey picked up the win for Jefferson, allowing just two runs in eight innings.

The All-Stars were the only 13-year old team in the tournament and faced 14-year olds from White County, Jackson County and Barrow County. Jefferson outscored them 53-17.

Andy Nicolaus led the All-Stars with a .600 batting average in the tournament. Chandler Thompson record three of Jefferson’s five tournament wins.

Both Jefferson teams will play in the Dizzy Dean State Tournament in two weeks. The 13-year olds will play in Jefferson, while the 14-year olds visit Cartersville.
